About The Artist.
Traveling the U.S taking pictures of the amazing landscapes helps my imagination grow in my art work - Deborah Childers
All my life I loved to draw and create new things growing up. My mother is an amazing painter and growing up as a child I watched her create some amazing landscape pieces. She even painted a deer walking through a morning mist with mountains in the background on my brothers wall. Then she saw my drawings of a cat and handed me a paint brush to paint this orange tabby cat on our bathroom wall. I was excited but also afraid I could not paint as good as my mom but she comforted me saying kids art is in and my art is just that. So I painted away.
For years I was always afraid of color thinking that is I added any medium besides graphite or charcoal I would mess up my drawing. A couple years ago I took the leap and told myself I will overcome the fear of adding color. I will use different mediums, research , study and test out products to find the keys to success.
As my art journey continues I have painted every day and have found that I favor pastel the most. I absolutely love working with this medium because of its blending and forgiveness. If I could give one piece of advice it would be “ Never give up on your goals, keep going even when it looks bad, every thing is in layers the beginning is ugly but the beauty is hiding right behind it.” -Deborah Childers
